Problem: Education - No Child Left Behind: 08/06/09
Mandated curriculum by the federal government is destroying individuality and freedom of expression.
Solution: Reform No Child Left Behind and eliminate unnecessary testing to allow more teaching. Eliminate government benchmarks. Use testing that measures growth not proficiency.

Problem: Drugs - Legalizing Marijuana 11/13/09
Marijuana Clinics
The Legalizing of Marijuana will only lead to the abuse of an other substance. The places that sell it legally look very little into the background of the client. The client can complain about false pains and get a free gram on sign up. There are people who really need it like terminal patients and other people that lack appetite.
Solution: If a client is going to simply make up an excuse to smoke marijuana they should at least break some bones or something to have evidence of the claimed pain, continuation is up to them. The marijuana providers need to look more into the client instead of just taking the $30 for a an 8th of an ounce or giving a free gram to sign up.

Problem: Drugs - Drug Trafficking 11/13/09
Too high of demands in the USA for illegal drugs which has caused our bordering countries such as mexico, to become a nest for the most dangerous drug traffickers.
Solution: higher demands of people protecting the border, the substances and people which come in and out of our country. making it more difficult to smuggle drugs into the U.S.. When we cross the border we have experienced first hand, the act of a smuggler smuggling drugs into the U.S. What used to be a normal trip to mexico is now a dangerous life threatening risk taken by many, and conquered by few.
Perspective: Our own cousin was a victim of the drug smugglers immoral acts.

Problem: Drugs - legalization of marijuana 11/13/09
the way we are fighting the drug war is a farce. we are only putting a band aid over a wound that needs much more. we spend enormous amounts of money arresting drug users, drug dealers, and the occasional drug smugglers, only small fry in the big picture.
Solution: we must solve the problems at it root. the people that make and distribute the drugs through out the world. I think we should put our efforts in trying to arrest the people that make and distribute the drugs through out the world. we should make deals with the countries that hold these criminals because it is not just an American issue but a world issue that needs to be dealt with.

Problem: Religion- Gay Marriage 11/13/09
Legalizing gay marriage would cause difficulties or legal issues for religious institutions if a gay couple wanted to get married in a church.
Solution: Only allow gay marriages to take place in city halls or non-religious institutions.

Problem: Law&Order/Religion - Gay Marriage 11/13/09
Should gays and lesbians be allowed to marry?
Gays and lesbians should be allowed to marry because of separation of church and state.
Solution: They should be able to have the same rights as anyone else when it comes to marriage. I don't think that there should be a law or anything or the sort that prevents people from marrying who they want. Even if a person doesn't agree with that and thinks that it is wrong, they shouldn't condemn others for feeling a certain way.

There is a constant increase in the status of global warming.

Problem: Drugs 11/13/09
The government is struggling about making marijuana legal or leaving it illegal.
Solution: I think the Government should make it legal. think that's because in my opinion the crime rate will go down and everybody is responsible for themselves and if they want to hurt themselves then it should be the choice. The government and officials should be focusing on other more important issues than on that.

Problem: Animal Rights 11/13/09
Resolving the Recession
Animals are being treated like dirt. Many animals are becoming non-existent because of too much construction or for sports. We are only given these animals once, when they are gone, we are not given another chance to coexist with them.
Solution: We need to take them into consideration, and give them their own bill of rights. Although the organization PETA does stand up for animals, it is not enough. We need official documents to prohibit animals from going through the pain of being skinned, stepped on, and inhumanely killed.

Problem: Politics- War in Iraq 11/13/09
Obama's administration has proposed to take all of the troops out of Iraq in 6-9 months.
This is a completely illogical proposal, seeing as how far we have already come in uniting their country and reforming their government. If we stepped out of Iraq before reform was complete, we would just be wasting all the money, lives and time we have spent.
Solution: Some people believe that as the United States is heading into a deep economic recession, we need to care for our country first and we should have never stepped into Iraq in the first place. However, now that we are there, we have no choice but to stay there unless we want even more resentment from the people of Iraq.

Problem: World Issues- International Adoption 11/13/09
Is it fair for children to grow up in a foreign country with a foreign family? Is it negative to our society by increasing our population growth?
Solution: International adoption should be allowed only if the family qualifies certain requirements. Raising children in a foreign place would only be legitimate if the child would be well supported and taken care of better then they would be back in their home country.

I believe that the law is faulty in limiting the number of people who sell and use drugs.
Solution: For high school students they should speak up annonomously if they have any information about who buys and sells drugs. They should take pride in keeping their communities safe and clean from drugs.

There seems to be no effort in making the environment cleaner i see nothing really big happening with the government effort. As global warming creeps upon us we still just standing waiting for environment disasters to really react to it.
Solution: I suggest we start making laws to save the planet to live in a healthier place. We should make in mandatory to make and effort to keep the environment cleaner. Such as electric car would be a fantastic effort to the get green effort. Electric car would greatly reduce all the negative effects car are running off of fossil fuels.

Drugs are way to easy for anyone to access. Teens in high school, and even middle school are getting drugs from inside of school, and they're are getting exposed easier.

Problem: Environment - Drilling for Oil in Alaska 11/12/09
The United States even considering the start of drilling in Alaska for oil.
Solution: I believe this is a ridiculous consideration and my solution would be to seize our dependency on oil and devote our time to finding alternate sources. People need to realize that right now the main crisis is the environment and if we were to start drilling in Alaska we would have a temporary solution to our dependency on foreign oils. But in the long run it will do more damage than help.

Problem: Environment - Drilling in Alaska & Global Warming 11/12/09
We shouldn't drill in Alaska we need to preserve our wildlife that we have left. Drilling for oil in Alaska only promotes the problem of destroying in the OZ layer and increasing the dangers of global warning.
Solution: My solution is that instead of spending money on drilling on Alaska, We use money to research into eco friendly energy sources such as Clean Coal or Nuclear Energy where we already have the technology to use Nuclear Energy already shown by all our Naval Aircraft carriers and battleships are ran by nuclear reactors which have no problem. And creating these new energy sources would increase jobs opportunities for the unemployed!

Problem: Environment - Global Warming 11/12/09
The problem is that the environment is too contaminated & people don't have a conscience on this topic. The Earth is full of contamination and the ozone layer has a big hole on it, which is growing. Global warming is very evident, the weather is getting extreme and the poles are melting. If we don't do something and just keep contaminating Global Warming will get worst.
Solution: Create awareness programs in schools of how we can change our habits and have a cleaner envioronment. More t.v. advertisements to promote green lifestyles.

Problem: politics - Health care 11/12/09
Obama wants to make health care nationalized. People that don't make money get the health care for free, and people who are making money and can afford health care or insurance will have to pay more for health care. It's dangerous because this is starting to sound like a communist country where everyone receives the same benefits no matter their social status.
Solution: To educate the population that think that the health care bill will be a good thing. What we do need to do is get rid of the people who cannot afford health care. These are mainly illegal immigrants, so in theory what I'm suggesting is to close the borders and have stricter immigration laws. We cannot have people receiving benefits that they did not earn or pay for.
Perspective: I'm a democratic liberal. I just think Obama and our government has done a horrible job. While I do blame some of this on Bush, most of the problems are caused by my own democratic party.

In 2008, california voted to pass Prop 8, which eliminated the right previously given to same sex couples to be married legally through the state.

illegal immigrants crossing the border and taking jobs then putting the money back into the mexican economy.
Solution: Its time we stop turning a blind eye to the borders. they are crippling the economy and we are too politically correct to do anything about it. The Left has suggested we be more lenient on immigration and that they have worked so hard to get here to turn them away would be "heartless". my response would be if you work hard to make it to the border why not put fourth more effort to become a legal citizen and support the american economy that you so desperately want to be a part of. My solution Close the borders to any illegal immigrant and "beef up" Border control and send them straight back to mexico in line with those who are taking the necessary steps to complete their immigration.

The drilling in Alaska will affect the environmental aspect of Alaska. I t will also ruin animal habitat and destroy may homes for the animals.
Solution: I think that the U.S. should look for another solution, try to provide another way of retrieving oil or simply provide new ways that eliminate oil completely.

There is not enough funding or emphasis put on high school education, especially in California. Budget cuts are hurting the level of education in California public schools.
Solution: The state government should cut unnecessary spending. For example the state of California should not have paid for Michael jackson's funeral. Also, public school district officials should take a pay cut so that more money can go to school funding.

Illegal immigration, border issues
Should the illegal immigrants be allowed to receive citizenship if they have been in the U.S. for more than five years?
Solution: I believe that they should receive citizenship because this would end all the problems. Or if these immigrants are here than they shouldn't be paying taxes like they do because most of them pay them due to false identification.

Gay and lesbians are not able to get legally married in most states.

Suggest a new topic or subtopic: Contamination 11/12/09
Problem: Environment
Our planet is dying with contamination.
Solution: We should take care of our planet because its the only planet we have. We should start an organization that communicates this problem to everyone. That way it would make everyone aware of this situation, and therefore everyone would be a little more conscious of our planet and how important it is.
Perspective: I was passing by the freeway the other day and I realized there was a lot of trash in the sides. Things such as plastic bags, soda cans and cups, ship bags, and many other things. It makes us as American citizens look bad and it damages our planet at the same time, it may not look as much if it just a chocolate wrapper but imagine, if we don't stop it now it could get so much worse.

Success surrounds the artists who have morally negative messages, if any message at all. Also, the CEO's of record companies only support and produce artists whose music is "bubble-gum" or "mainstream" thus stifling the community of people who appreciate real artists of good music.
Solution: Schools should teach things that people are actually going to need or need to know. such as basic algebra instead of angles and degrees. I personally don't plan on being a construction worker but for those who want to be one should take a class on it. so the education should teach current events.

Problem: Education (It puts the lotion on the skin or else we gets the hose again!) 11/12/09
The education system has long been teaching the same topics and information that has all occurred in the past or methods that society does not really need. For example when am i going to need to know the periodic table and what element does what and what the atomic mass is or how many electrons they each have. And history teaches old things in time like wars that lasted a few minutes or hours but they should be teaching us current events that are actually taking place in our time like how the economy is down, terrorist attacks, getting people out of foreign countries.
Solution: Schools should teach things that people are actually going to need or need to know. such as basic algebra instead of angles and degrees. I personally don't plan on being a construction worker but for those who want to be one should take a class on it. so the education should teach current events.
Perspective: Personal experience would be that something is going on in the economy that i don't know about. i would like to but hey theres no one to tell me or teach me about these current events.
